Senior Category Manager – Mechanical
Our client is a Dutch Multinational, specialising in the assembly of complex mechanical and mechatronic modules for high-tech industries like semiconductors and analytical equipment. Providing precision manufacturing and integrated assembly solutions.
As a Senior Category Manager, you will take ownership of the sourcing strategy for precision mechanical components and build-to-print assemblies. Working closely with engineering, quality, and operations teams, you will ensure supplier capabilities align with technical requirements, production timelines, and quality expectations.
You will play a key role in strengthening supplier performance, improving cost competitiveness, and ensuring a resilient supply base that supports both ongoing production and new product introductions.

- Define and implement sourcing strategies for precision mechanical parts and assemblies to achieve optimal cost, quality, and supply continuity
- Conduct supplier market research, cost benchmarking, and total cost analysis to identify value improvement opportunities
- Lead supplier selection, onboarding, performance management, and capability development initiatives
- Partner with engineering and operations teams to support new product launches and production transfers
- Drive commercial negotiations including pricing agreements, long-term partnerships, and cost optimisation plans
- Assess supplier risks, ensure compliance standards are met, and strengthen supply chain resilience
- Build collaborative relationships with internal teams and key suppliers to support long-term business goals
Job Requirements

- Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, or related discipline
- Proven experience in strategic sourcing or category management within precision engineering, mechatronics, or mechanical assemblies’ environment
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, BOM structures, and GD&T specifications
- Strong track record in supplier development, commercial negotiation, and cost management initiatives
- Familiarity with build-to-print manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, casting, or precision assemblies
- Understanding of supplier risk evaluation and compliance practices
- Strong stakeholder engagement and analytical capabilities
